g'DAY ALL

Here is a pic from one of the earlier gliding days in December 2010. Gloomy sky with beautiful couple of rainbows and a shadow of the tree to the side. Taken with my mobile nokia n95 5mpixel, wish I had my 14mpixel cam on me to take this shot, would have been ace. I just love this photo....just beautiful :) Especially rainbow over the mountain and the title on the shed.

oh and by the way I have decided to make the Between Meal Centerpiece that I mentioned in the previous post. Crochet with 1.75mm hook, super saver crochet cotton equv. to 4ply in white. I am currently on round 10 just about to start that round, looking good and easy to follow pattern so far. Hi all :) How r ya ?

Thinking of crocheting one of these doilies/table center piece, called Between-Meal Centerpiece. Crochet in cotton with a small hook, finished size 30 inches or about 72cm.

I am also currently working on a hyperbolic psuedosphere, so much fun watching the work of art changed shape...here is a sample view of what one looks like...clik here for utube vid.

I have few other projects on the hook and needles, couple of cushion covers, one knitted - garter stitch - blues and purples and one Tunisian crochet in the round purple and white.

Oh ya just remembered crochet some corkscrews, no pics yet, but you can learn to make one.

Most fab Round Ripple Afghan pattern

G'day

Found and made a crochet round ripple afghan from this pattern, called Sunshine Round Ripple Baby Afghan. This pattern uses double crochet and shell stitch, very easy to follow and increase rounds to make bigger and stays flat too, love this pattern. Gotta get more colors. All greens in this one. :) Ok this is not the size of a baby afghan but i just wanted to try the pattern out and use some of my stash of yarn, i only went up to round 12 with a 3.5mm hook and 8ply acrylic yarn and a single crochet stitch border. Just love the look the 3.5mm hook gives, small stitches and more neater look to the finished project....cool.

Here is one of my terrarium cactus that I refreshed yesterday and am playing classical music to.

Also as I said i started making the crinkle stitch cushion cover, with 4mm 8ply acrylic in the round. Is about 39cm wide and i will just get a cushion insert that fits that size...cool...such a crappy photo (sorry about that)

and couple of days ago i crochet this flower from this pattern on youtube, is used as a washcloth, but too nice to use, i just like the look, is so textured and simple to make...go here for the video tutorial. This one is in a deep purple bright color, just love my purples.

New Project, Crinkle Stitch

Helllooooo and G'day and Welcome

Thinking of another crochet project, infect another pillow case with crinkle stitch, which is just fab. Here is a sample I crochet with 4mm hook 8ply acrylic. Just fab, thick, 3D, textured what more could one ask for.

Was thinking can this stitch be done in the round to make the cushion cover more is easy to crochet and less seems....hmmm....so as follows i made another sample, in the round, with 4mm hook and 8ply yarn. Wow....i like...very thick and textured.

Hmmm..more thinking...instead of solid color, which looks great in one color, what if I use a multicolored yarn....say this one, below....ok...another sample square....looking great...love the colors, same tone, good color mix and have few yarn balls in this color....hmmm....cushion cover looking and coming to life soon...i think...now should i make another sample in the round to see what cover will look like hmmmmmm...i will think about that one...knowing me I will get stuck into the cover ....

not bad i like these balls, hang them around the house for Xmas and any other day...just i think i should fill them to keep their roundness....

I have crochet with 5.5mm hook and 8ply 100% acrylic yarn in solid colors of hot pink and teal.
Crochet in one big rectangle, change color when one side of cushion matches, 36x36cm.

Love this cushion, the colors are fab, just made little bit longer and the corners are iffy, but anyways cushion turned out fabulous.

Just found another textured pattern using crochet front and back post double crochet stitch.
Love the thickness and 3D look is called the crinkle stitch. Same stitch on both sides.
Hmmm, thinking of another project to start with this stitch, just loving the look, excellent.

Crochet Pillow Case

Hi

Work in progress, another crochet pillow case. I finally decided on a basketweave stitch, which I have been pondering for a while now, I just could not decide on the color, but I love the texture of the stitch.....so finally few days ago I decided. My bestest colors, hot pink and teal, front and back crochet in one rectangle then folded and crochet the sides together, the top not sure yet.

Using 5.5mm hook, 8ply 100%acrylic yarn in solid colors, hot pink and teal, measured out for a 36x36cm pillow.

I am just loving this one, wanted to do basketweave for ages, I am half way through, hot pink front done and about four rows of teal started.

Here's clouds on one of my Gliding Days on 5th December 2010

T'was a great day for gliding, but there was a cross country lecture and the tug was in service, so I decided to take photo shots of the clouds, they were stunning, fab day for thermalling.

But to end the day, on the way home, late afternoon, thunderstorm and heaving rain, flooding on the roads. We were lucky to get through the road, just flooded, sure risky but decided to keep going. Lots of cars were on the side road trying to wait out the rain, but best to keep going, did not want to get stuck and flooded. Lots of rain in few secs.

I taped the whole drive, about 11 minutes of this heavy rain, just spectacular and very frightening, especially when you cannot see through the front window and the wipers cannot keep up. But anyways was soon over and the skies cleared...Thats weather in Aussie Land, you get four seasons in one day.

Crochet Granny Mandala

Just started and finished today this beautiful crochet pattern called Granny Mandala
The pattern can be found @ Crochet with Raymond ---> Revisiting the Granny Mandala

I used a 4mm crochet hook and 8ply 100% acrylic yarn, solid colors, in total 14 colors.

Finally I have come across a pattern that works in the round and stays flat and is large, 42cm (16 1/2 inches) across, plus easy to follow instructions, especially when increases are necessary.

I used the solid colors that I have left over from my finally completed Ripple Blanket. I found a color chart on the net and followed the colors, one after the other. Not bad, but Alice colors are fabulous and they flow. So for my next Granny Mandala I will be more selective with colors.

Easy to follow pattern with clear pictures to see stitches.

I used a 5mm bamboo crochet hook and 8ply 100% acrylic yarn in solid colors, randomly chosen.
I am not sure when I started this blanket, but was a while ago. The size fits queen bed. Simple border, single crochet stitch with my colors of choosing and the edging a reverse single crochet stitch in darker purple. Loved crocheting this blanket, always sitting on my desk ready to be continued with when I felt like a pick me up. I think this is my favorite crochet blanket, just full of color, makes me smile every time I pass by. This is the easiest ripple blanket pattern I have come across.

Hello all :)

Thought I would bring you up to speed on what I am currently crocheting and knitting.

Well at this time I am into cushion covers.

They are 36cmx36cm

Below
crochet ribbed stitch, with 3.5mm hook and 8ply acrylic yarn, my own design.

original granny square, with 3.5mm hook and 8ply acrylic yarn

I have also completed this blanket, I love the texture and the colorfulness.

I loved crocheting this one, the border was my own design, just love the texture and I also joined with the single crochet stitch and the border around each square pops out, creates a ridge.

Love this big pillow, crocheted in the round, 5mm hook and 8ply acrylic yarn. Crocheting around the front post of the stitch which creates a pattern of its own and on the other side a completely different look, like the crochet ribbed stitch. This pillow is 50cm x 50cm.

Here is another pillow case in progress. I have completed one side and just started the other side. Both sides are the same pattern just the colors are reversed. I used Teresa's pattern called, Granny Square Crochet Bulky Popcorn, here is the link... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P34UQ4tgPO8

I am also knitting a cushion cover in the round on the 4mm circular needles, love the color of the yarn. Just the plain knit stitch. Loving the look, taking a while to knit up, I am not as fast as I am on crocheting.

I am considering purchasing a 38# Afghan Knitting Board to make some nice and thick blankets.

Resin Pendants Jewelry Tutorial

Hello

I have had some feedback on my resin pendants and how to make them with the colors and swirls.

Here are the instructions and pics on how to create my swirl pendants.

materials that you will need:

Resin mold - 11 popular jewelry shapes

EasyCast clear resin (part A, B)

color powder, pearl ex pigments, purple and bright gold (ur choice of colors)

reusable resin measuring cups

stiring sticks

tooth picks

timer

tissues

resin and color powder

resin mold

step by step instructions:

1. Mix EasyCast resin following manufacturer's instructions.

2. Pour small amounts of resin into 2 separate cups to mix in the pearl colors purple and bright gold.

3. Pour the remaining clear resin into the selected mold cavities just below the top to allow for extra drops of color.

4. Use a toothpick to pick up one of the colors and drip a drop into one of the shapes anywhere.

5. Do the same with the other colors, as in step 4.

6. The drops will settle down into the resin, not just sit on top.

7. With a new toothpick and tissue in hand, swirl the colored drops around to make shapes in the clear resin. Between each swirl clean your toothpick on the tissue. You can pull the colors into each other for mixed color affect, any shape you wish, in this case swirls.

8. When satisfied with the affects, clean your area and let resin cure. Pop resin out of molds.

9. Once casting has fully cured polish and buff if you wish. Drill a hole with a rotary tool and small drill bit or small hand drill or wire wrap for a pendant, earrings or keyring.

To mix in colors, instead of drops and swirls, I used a pipette [pic below], suck in some color and on an angle into the resin, squirt the color in, this will create like bubbles of color into the resin. [example pic below].

Long time no see

Lately, love to create in Picasa, especially turning my photos into black and white

Few of my resin pendants

Recent crochet projects, cushion covers....

Here is the finished cushion cover, crochet with 100% acrylic yarn in multicolors on one side and the other granny square with solid colors, crochet with 3.50mm hook and joined with buttons, the size is 36cm x 36cm

Here is another cushion I am working on. Working with 100% acrylic yarn in multicolor s, using two alternating colors every round, working in the round, much better, no seams, just the joining. Crochet with 3.5mm hook (hooked on this size for some reason). Crochet between the stitches, love the effect and the striped coloring. This cushion is about 50cm wide. I started with the idea of a small cushion 36cm by 36cm, but as I crochet few rounds, came larger than I thought, but I did not want to start over, so I continued and hoped that Spotlight (Australia) would have the cushion of that size....and guess they did only 5 bucks, perfect fit. Almost half way to finishing.

Scalloped Potholder side 2

Here is the other side of the Scalloped Potholder...from previous post, yes I know I said I was not going to make that one into a potholder...but one color led to another and I had an erge to make another and wow...I like...so cool...so I now crochet them together and I think I will use in the kitchen. I have to make more, is almost addictive as the doliys' and very pretty.

This one is so pretty, i like the colors, first look and i fell in love.

Love the texture to the pattern using Fpdc stitch to create the ridges.
Many color possibilities and sizes. I crocheted with 3.5mm hook (hooked on this size for a while for some reason, maybe tighter and small stitches...who knows). Acrylic 8ply yarn (not sure why hooked on 8ply since i started crocheting) and I love the light green color.
Was thinking using small hook and make some coasters for when I and hubby have coffee and tea...make them in all sorts of colors. I know this pattern is for a potholder, but I only created one side and I fell in love...go figure :) :)

Yesterday I completed the Pine Cone doily...great to work on and is very beautiful and large
Crochet with 5mm hook, white 8ply acrylic yarn.
I just love crocheting these doilies, must do another.

I am currently crocheting a pillow case cover for a 35cm x 35cm cushion.
One side granny square using multicolored yarn, 8ply, acrylic, different colors on each row and crocheting with a 3.5mm hook and hooking a double crochet stitch on each side.
On the other side, stripped solid colors, bright with different colors on each row.
Here is a sneak peak.

I am also currently crocheting a hand bag, I have been for a while.
Crochet with 4mm hook, single crochet stitch, working in the round, with yarn of mix wool and soy with mix colors of green, brown, cream and gray. Each side different coloring.

Here is my australian garlic, photo taken this morning, tues 18th may 2010.
Three leaves so far and florishing.

Also my Old Lady Cactus (Mammillaria Hahniana) is sprouting a flower, so beautiful, opens during the day and closes for the night.

G'day

We went gliding on Saturday, 15th may and I went up for a 21 min flight. Beautiful and clam peaceful flight...I took some shots and I thought this shadow shot was the best of the day and I would like to share...my hubby did his second and third solo flight...the first one was last Sunday.
We are flying at the Grampians Soaring Club.

last night dessert (and night before)...layer in bowl...sponge biscuit, pear -with syrup, fruit salad - with syrup, custard on top...yummy....all the syrup soaks into the biscuit...here is pic of custard...i like the shadow of the whisk...so i took a shot !...with a cuppa of course

Cactus Terrarium

Hello and how is everyone?

I have launched myself into a Terrarium frenzy.

I wanted to put together a cactus terrarium.

I started of with a small coffee glass jar, (jars that I saved from sauces and coffee)

yet to realise that the cactus would not fit, after placing all the materials inside.

Recently I bought a plastic jug and thought that was a good size and very beautiful...so I decided to make my cactus terrarium into the jug. The cactus is doing very well after about three weeks.
Will grow to about 30 to 40cm in height with large 5cm yellow flowers in about 10 to 30 years.
Originally I wanted to buy a pot of several different cacti but they did not have that when I went there to buy. So I choose this one, beautiful with the green and yellow spikes.

I used the glass jar to plant a bud clipping from my lemon tree....not doing much after about three weeks..i think grew little taller...not sure! Planted 6th of April 2010.

So on 6th of April 2010 I completed two terrariums, cactus and lemon tree bud clipping.

Here are the instructions on how to create my cactus terrarium.

Materials (that I have used, bought at Bunnings Warehouse):-

* Stones, rocks or pebbles
* Horticultural Charcoal
* Sphagnum Moss
* Cacti & Succulent potting mix (soil,sand mix)
* Cactus (Golden Torch Cactus)
* Shells

Steps to create terrarium:-

1. Choose container large enough to occomodate the cactus, glass...i used plastic jug. Sterilize the container with hot/boiling water. Let dry. I saved jars from sauces, coffee etc. Or get a glass fish bowl.

2. Place stones, about an inch on the bottom of container...for drainage.

3. Place charcoal, about an inch, on top of the stones...prevents mold etc.

3. Place moss on top of the charcoal...prevents the soil mix getting to the stones.

4. Place potting mix..enough for the roots to catch, on top of the moss.

5. Plant the cactus, place more potting mix to cover up to the cactus, water the cactus and soil.

6. Place moss on top of soil, for decoration.

7. Place stones and shells on top of moss for decoration.

8. Clean inside jar with moist tissue.

10. Water cactus once a month.

I have also planted garlic on 12th April 2010.

buy australian garlic with roots showing on the bottom (any garlic with roots)
take one clove and plant pointy top of clove pointing out of the soil, cover with soil and water
one week and roots are showing and tip has pushed thru the soil

i am surprised that the garlic is growing in cactus/succulent mix of soil

I am also using energized water to water my terrariums, none of this tap water and always place them a sunny lit spot, like the window sill...so they get the day's sunshine.

These terrariums really work, as you can see on the above picture the roots have plenty or moisture/water to feed on.

I have plans to buy more cactus variety and plant them in a glass fish bowl, I cannot wait..this I wanted to do in the beginning..just could not find the one pot with all kinds of cacti.

I am pretty sure that one could plant anything in a terrarium...i am also planning to find peppermint to make my own tea....maybe miniature flowers, that would be awesome...a terrarium with color...

GLIDING DAY 4TH APRIL SUNDAY 2010

We had a blast on Sunday, we went Gliding in the Grampians during Easter.

Fantastic weather and many flights achieved throughout the day.
I flew after five months and I still love the feeling of freedom and the landscape.

We were Ridge Soaring, fantastic, close to the edge of the mountains, you could almost touch the rocks on the ridge. Thermaling above the mountains is a thrill, so beautiful and majestic.

We arrived about 2pm, four gliders were already in flight and few people lined up to fly.
There was the Pouchacz, Janus C, IS28 and another glider which I am not sure.

I went up in the Janus C, wing span of 20 meters, very long wings and excellent for cross country gliding. I was up for 33 minutes, ridge soaring and we were about 3500 feet up.

My hubby went in the IS28, ridge soaring for 68 minutes and very close to his solo flight.

Caught some fantastic shadow shots from up there too.

Fabulous sky.

Was a very fantastic day ending with a beautiful sunset.

Was such a unbelievable day.... same time last year we made our first gliding flight, I flew in the same glider and pilot over the same mountains. Hubby as well just a different pilot.
Thus we have come full circle, gliding for one year. Just pure life freedom and majestic landscaping all around, plus the beauty of the sky.

Progress on my Ripple Blanket

Anyways .........

This is what I have so far on the Ripple Blanket

I am crocheting the light blue at the top of the picture, first row, there are two of each color

Looks alright, colorful, not sure about the dark green, these are just random colors. This is the first time I looked at the whole piece stretched out to full size, I usually just crochet and crochet without checking what looks like, just feels good to keep going, especially on projects like these, blankets, scarfs.

Am liking the color combo so far, maybe should have used smaller sized hook for a denser look, but this is fine too. I am already thinking ahead to do two color combos, firey orange and blue mix. I have crocheted doily's out of those two colors. What do you think, will these two work together, alternating, might have to do a swatch.

Hmmmm, I wonder what that will look like........what do you think?

My Ripple Blanket

Remember this little wave

Well I decided that I love this pattern and is easy to accomplish so I will crochet up a beautiful and colorful blanket

Using solid color, acrylic yarn - 8 ply, a 5mm hook, double crochet (dc) stitch throughout and work about 1.5m wide to length of myself for the measurements of the blanket, just enough to cover myself

I choose any color and go with the flow, mix of light and dark

This pattern is so soothing, calming and relaxing to crochet, I am really loving the blanket

I have completed 22 rows and am on the second row of color red. Each color is crochet for two rows

I have stumbled across this simple and easy crochet ripple pattern. Lucy from Attic24 has made this design herself and she has more to share, there is a simple hexagon pattern too. Excellent photos to show where to insert your hook and how the pattern looks on paper. Fabulous teacher and loves to work with colors, her house is filled with colorful blankets and pillowcases with her own designs.

Hi all just a quick shadow shot sunday on my adventure this Sunday on a Ferry ship, will chat about that later, here are some pic of shadows from that day. The date was 7th Feb 2010. Batteries messed that up, had to use two double A's, my rechargeable s, two are finished.

Guess what....

I have been searching YouTube for resin jewels, to get ideas for my resin pendants and I came across this idea, which I have forgotten where I located. To make the finished pendants look glass like, if already looking dull after polishing. Use clear nail polish, wow what a difference to the finished piece. Does smell when brushed on, no streaks left behind, but once dried, no worries. Finished pendant has a glass look and shine.

Cocoon and Doilys

How is everyone?

Found this little cocoon on our bin on 15th jan.

This is a cocoon of some sort. Found yesterday on our bin outside. We usually have two side by side. One got emptied. Went to put something in and found this little creature. Moves around too. We had the cocoon on the garage few years ago. Good to see one. I wonder where will travel next. This was yesterday, 15th jan.

Here is the cocoon on the 16th jan.
This is pic today, 16th. I am pretty sure cocoon has moved, but by the pics, looks like same position.

Does anyone recognize the cocoon?

Update on Doily's, yep found another one to crochet, started making with 3.50mm hook and 5ply white yarn and to behold the thing started curling on me, this got me so frustrated, I really like this pattern, beautiful, vintage.

I could not figure out how to correct, not a professional yet, only 2 years in the running. Here is the pattern link - if you wish to try yourself. This changed my mood of the day :( Maybe because I was using bigger hook, but I have used bigger hooks before and the patterns turned out alright.

Anyways a couple of days cooling off and feeling content and ready to find another doily pattern I liked, for some reason I like the pinwheel affect, different from the usual simple pattern I like crocheting. So I figured, I could not find one in the usual free pattern library, so I decided to Google doily pinwheel patterns and cool, I found a pattern that I like. Here is the link.

This one was part of a crochet along. I am using 3.5mm crochet hook and 5ply white acrylic yarn. Which will result in a larger doily. Here is mine so far.

This is just the center, the pinwheel affect.

Nothing much else happening.
Very warm today 30 degree Celsius and next week cold and snowing, go figure. This Aussie weather is terrible, all seasons in one day is what I say. I am sending some of this warmth and sunshine to you out there who is covered in coldness and snow.

Doily Time with a Twist

How is everyone after all Xmas and New Year's celebrations?

I am on a doily obsession, especially working with yarn. I find thread too stringy, probably not hooking tightly enough. I like the effect of the thread, but I love the yarn more. The doilies work out larger and have more of an umph look to them. I love to experiment with mixed colored yarn, but now I am hooked on 5ply white acrylic.

Here are some of my favorite colored doily's

I love how this pattern works out on completion, especially with multicolored/variegated yarn. These one have a spiral look.

For the pattern CLICK HERE - ha ha, no longer available, well I do have a print out, if anyone has interest, let me know.

This is my favorite pattern, easy to work in a couple of hours. I use 5mm crochet hook with 8ply acrylic yarn.

There are so many that I have picked out and bookmarked, just not sure which one to do next. I do not have one on the hook at the moment. But I did buy more yarn, white 5ply.

I am also working on a blanket, crochet long wise with 8ply acrylic on a 8mm crochet hook. Two colors, one solid teal and one multicolored purple mix. Not sure the measurements but the length is a bit longer than me and the width, as long as it wraps around me. The pattern is two rows of each color, crochet half double crochet stitch (hdc) working into the third loop, facing you under the front and back loop, to create a rib effect.

I have come up with this pattern for the blanket myself, the ribbing stitch is from Teresa.

I always do this, imagine how I want the blanket to look and just picture the stitches and how I can manipulate them into a pattern. This is manly for blankets, coasters and table runners, hats, scarfs. On occasions I choose a pattern from a book.

The first picture is more of the true colors.

Not much else happening for now, just have to decide on which doily to crochet next.

If anyone has any pattern to share, I would love to see them :)

Shadow Shot Sunday

Here are my shadow shots this week. I have been staring at these shadows for a while, but a bit lazy to take the shot. Now I have. Each morning when the sun is out they cast the shadows on the front porch and the front door. Personally I love these shadows.

CATS ON TUESDAY

Just a day outside in the sunshine, this was yesterday, Wednesday.
Enjoying the beautiful day with two chairs, under the trees and my crochet project.
Starting with Puss being in the shade under and beside the chair, then moves onto the chair with paws on my legs, then moves onto my lap, no matter what I am crocheting. Now we have a happy cat :)

Mosaic Monday and Update

I am incorporating mosaic of pictures of my projects that I am discussing today.

Here are some of the crochet and knitting projects that I am working on.

White and Yellow Blanket
This blanket is a when I feel like knitting, especially whilst watching TV. I am still on the second stripe, there are three. Knitted on size 7mm knitting needles and using 8ply acrylic yarn in solid colors, yellow and white. Yes I know I have mentioned this one before with not much more of progress.

Bright and colorful Bag
This bag, I need a new one, love the colors, they go together. Main color sort of bright purple and the second color a mix of colors.

Both in acrylic 8ply. I have made the bag to fit my purse and few other objects. The bag is nearly finished, just a bit more height. Sorry about the picture, not a sunny day today.

Snowflake
Love crocheting Teresa's snowflakes, she now has 6 in total, hope she does more. Just recently I crochet snowflake 5 and 6. I have crochet her other snowflakes, at the moment I cannot locate the pictures or the crochet snowflakes. I am thinking I will crochet all of them and show you soon.

Fillet Crochet Flamenco
I am loving this project. It is fillet crochet and I am using a 4mm crochet hook and 5ply acrylic white yarn. This one is large but I love that, I can put the finished piece on my round dinning table, cool I cannot wait. When I feel like crocheting something different I go back to this project. I am about half way. Sorry about the picture.

Also a few Beading Bracelets and Necklaces
Oooh, yummy. Love these glass beaded bracelets. Went to Spotlight to get more yarn for a special project I am putting together for family overseas. And of course during my time at the store I had to search around for beads, as you know I have bit of addiction for them, especially the glass, because they shine and sparkle, no need for expensive crystals or diamonds. The pendant and round purple jasper beads I bought from Lisa, she is fantastic at making jewelry and she also sells beads, please visit her Etsy Store, Buy Happiness (Free shipping on Holiday Gift Sets) and Buy Happiness Beads. I have bought many beautiful items from her store and I am very happy with all of them.

So I stumbled upon the usual container of mixed glass beads and you would not believe they do not have them anymore, they were on clearance and I did not know, they had four left but I already have those. They cleared at 4 bucks for 700g. But right next to them they have smaller amount, 300g mixed glass beads and they are at 6 bucks not bad, so I got myself three, could not resist and I choose well, love them.

Well that is all for now, I will try and do the snowflakes and try for better pics on some of these shots today. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Are you all getting ready for Christmas. Because I am not in a way. We usually have a quite one, just us two. We buy presents all year round and we are happy that way. During new year we go on top of the roof and watch the fireworks in the city. Sometimes on Xmas day too. Enjoy.

Shadow Shot Sunday

G'day

Here is my shadow shot for this Sunday.

We went Gliding today, Sunday 15th Nov 2009.

Very hot and still air, about 30 deg cel out in the sun, but fantastic flying, few thermals.

Hubby got six flights in today and myself just one. The canola fields are green now, they were yellow about two three weeks ago. All week very hot and high 30 deg cel, here in Victoria Aussie land.

Anyways caught a few shadow shots at the airfield today.

I will blog more about the days Gliding soon :)

Mosaic Monday #5

Mosaic Monday is hosted by Mary @ Little Red House.

I have been getting a few of you who love my long stitch project in the header on this blog. So today I thought it would be great opportunity to take photos of some of the other embrodery projects I have completed.

I have also updated the header picture, which is of one of the embroidery projects. I found the free pattern online and I sketched it out onto canvas and cross stitched the pattern. This one is one of my favorites.

I have also updated a new blog background that matches wonderfully with the header picture :)

Ok, here is the mosaic picture for this Monday.

The first and the last are long stitch and the second and third are cross stitch of the same project, which is the header picture.

I love embroidery projects like this, long stitch and cross stitch.

I have also cross stitched a bookmark, which I love and I am using now with the book I am reading which is New Moon by Stephenie Meyer, the second of the Twilight Saga. Really enjoying this one. I am also reading The Time Traveler's Wife by Audry Niffenegger.

I have another bookmark half way done, but it is one of those UFP and I cannot remember where I have placed, because the other day I wanted finish that, after a long time and bamb no where to be found :( The cross stitch bookmarks are fun to complete, I will have to find more, but the shops do not have really nice ones, yet ;)

Shadow Shot Sunday #24

Here is my Shadow Shot for this week, it has been a while.

Can you guess where the colored shadow comes from?
A new gadget that my hubby bought for me!!

Well I will tell you ! We went to Watergardens Shopping Center and my hubby thought he would like to buy me a new gadget, as there were a few to choose from. So we went to do our mini shopping and on the way back he went into the shop and bought me a "Lava Lamp". Ok you might be thinking, yep I have one of those or they are so expensive. But not this one, only twenty bucks and I have never had one of these before. You know what! I love my new Lava Lamp. :) Fantastic colors, yellow water and the wax is greenish and bluish, just perfect and the best one in the shop. I love the ever changing bubbles and colors.

Cats on Tuesday

G'day. Apologies for not participating for a while, hubby was on holidays and my computers are busted for a while.

Just a few recent picks of Puss and Mitz outside on a beautiful and sunny day.
I have been feeding both chicken necks and pieces and they are full of life and happiness.
The canned and dry food are horrible, leaves them unhappy and Puss sort of gets dry skin too. Yuk. Sometimes I give them can food but only the best, Puss loves his fish. :)

The weather here, Aussie Land is warming up and we have beautiful sunny days, time to get great shots with my pets outside in the sun. All the flowers and trees are blooming too.

Also great weather for Gliding, maybe this Saturday :)

Anyways here are a few pics. ciao. I know it is a bit of a mixed bag for Cats on Tuesday!!

Fiber Arts Friday

Here is another meme I have joined on Fridays called Fiber Arts Friday hosted by Alpaca Farm Girl. Please visit her and see the wonderful fiber creations from others around the world.

Well as you know from previous post I have made a pair of fingerless gloves, click here if you want to read and see pics. Hah, two different colors, I ran out of the dark green. I remember seeing more of the lighter green, too much stash, so today I decided to make another one to match the light green. I have just started on the cuff. As always clik on pic to enlarge.

These are so easy to make, I might make more, even turn them into gloves, just continue on the fingers. I might try that on the dark green fingerless glove, see how that works out :)

I also completed a strip on the yellow and white blanket in garter stitch knitting and have started the middle strip. Enjoying this one too especially when I am watching TV.

Ok this is not anything to do with fiber, but these are all the resin jewels that have been demoulded and curing. Click here to read about them. The pretty one, oval with flower, has dried up inside. I placed them in direct sun to speed up the process of curing and they dried up. But still look ok. They will cure for a good two weeks, before sanding occurs, any sooner they go yucky. I cannot wait, I really like the colored ones.

I picked up a novel at the local library today, "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. I finished reading "Twilight" and I am still reading the "The Host" from the same author.

This is all for the week, I am still trying to orientate myself, hubby has gone back to work from two week break. I have to get back to my routine of blogging. I have been reading your blogs and as always enjoy. Thank you for everyone's comments, I do appreciate all.

FingerLess Gloves

Yesterday was a fantastic day :)

I finally got a chance to crochet those fingerless gloves that I have been wanting for a long time. Teresa is the best, her videos are incredible, easy to follow and understand. She has recently posted up a video on the FingerLess Gloves for Ladies and Men. Click here for the vid.

I have chosen to make them light and the color dark green called Forrest. The blend is 60% cotton and 40% acrylic. Very soft and comfortable. I do not like scratchy wool, acrylic is alright.

Last night I completed one glove and this morning I weaved in the tails, yay, fab, the glove fits and for me it is comfortable and light.

On the other hand, haha, I have two hands, so now and I am planning on making the second fingerless glove today, make sure I equalize the warmth. :)

Progress on second fingerless glove, here is the pic, just about completed the thumb..time for a break @ 11.04am.
Hi again @ 6.15pm, second glove is finished, now I have two warm hands, love them. The second one is much better. me very happy, now i can make a pair that match in color, even try gloves, just continue on the fingers to make them longer. Fantastic i cannot wait. :)
Now i can crochet, knit and type in warmth.

Have a go yourself they are fun to make :)
